A new name that keeps appearing on this site and in local papers is Whitehouse freshman Holton Walker. Holton moved to whitehouse this winter and has brought the pole vualt tradition back to life. As a freshamn Holton won the district pole vault title with a jump of 13 feet. He then went on to the Regional Track Meet at Sam Houston State University this past weekend earning himself a sixth place spot for the finals. As i watched him vault at the regional track meet i overheard comeone point out that he was about 3 inches shorter than any other vaulter there, but whenthe competition started you couldnt tell that he was a freshman, even though he placed sixth, he missed first by 9 inches…thats pretty good if you ask me.
