Brenham pounded out a 3-0 victory over the LadyCats in a Class 4A Region III bi-district volleyball match Thursday at Fairfield High School.

The final was 26-24, 25-16, 25-18.

The loss completed Whitehouse’s season at 20-13. The LadyCats finished third in District 17-4A.

Brenham (31-8), the runner-up in 18-4A, next will face Galena Park in the area round.

Brenham had the know-how to pull through, said Whitehouse coach Cheryl Till.

“Brenham has a lot of playoff experience,” Till said. “They made the big plays.”

The hitting of Brenham senior Jessica Weynand didn’t help matters much, either, for Whitehouse. Weynand finished with nine kills to lead the Cubette hitters.

“(Weynand) can really hit,” Till said.

Whitehouse, meanwhile, was led by sophomore Jordan Knight (5 kills, 9 service points), senior Courtney McFarlin (4 kills, 7 digs), senior Britnee Wilson (3 kills, 8 service points), senior Amy Mulgrew (4 kills) and sophomore Katy Kidwell (2 kills, 2 blocks, 16 service points).

In the first game, Whitehouse held a 20-19 lead when a Weynand kill tied the score. Brenham then reeled off four straight points for game point, but Whitehouse quickly rebounded to tie.

Brenham grabbed another game point thanks to a kill by junior Victoria Adedipe. The Cubettes then cashed in to win the game.

Brenham breezed through the second game, taking control with a 6-0 run that made the score 22-14. Game three saw the Cubettes take command with another 6-0 run, this time after the teams were deadlocked at 15.
