WHITEHOUSE FIREFIGHTERS HELP WITH TYLER GRASS FIRE

Posted by admin under Uncategorized

Whitehouse firefighters helped assist in a large grass fire that broke out on Paluxy Drive outside of Tyler, near Cumberland. This occurred at 1pm on Tuesday and was started by a hay bailing machine. The driving the tractor noticed that his bailer was smoking and knew he had water on the other side of the pasture. As he drove to the other side, he was spreading the fir across the pasture.

Tyler firefighters assisted as well as the employees of Reynolds-Kay Constructions who have been working on the highway improvements on South Paluxy. Highway workers happen to have two water tankers out here and were able to help.

The fire consumed about 100 acres of hay pasture and was put out short of reaching homes in Cumberland Estates.
